A Survey Study on the Social and Economic Reality and Challenges Facing the Fishing Sector in the Gaza Strip

As part of the program of research and field studies carried out by Phoenix Center for Research and Field Studies, which addresses important and vital sectors in the Gaza Strip, the Center launched an analytical survey study on the social and economic reality and the challenges facing the fishing sector in the Gaza Strip.

In this regard, the research team supervising this study prepared a detailed research work plan, which includes defining the general geographic and temporal framework of the study, as well as the methodology and collection of statistical data on fishermen and boats, preparing the statistical database and the samples represented by the number of focus group meetings, analyzing the data, calculating economic indicators, and finally analyzing the results and writing the report.

In this context, two workshops were held with two surveyed focus groups consisting of 20 people from among fishing boat owners and fishermen in Gaza and the south, and the workshop included a detailed explanation of the study for this focus group, after which the questionnaires were filled out with this surveyed group.

The completion of the questionnaires, which will number up to 100 questionnaires, will continue as part of the process of preparing this study.
