The Qualitative Weight of the Palestinian National Movement in the Gaza Strip (National Role, Resistance Action, and Future Prospects)

Introduction:

The role of the Gaza Strip evolved as an integral part of the components of the Palestinian political, social, and economic context, as it came to represent a main gateway for resisting the occupation and organizing Palestinian struggle, particularly within the context of pivotal historical events such as the Nakba of 1948, the war of 1967 and the subsequent expansion of the occupation, the growth of the Palestinian national movement, then the first Palestinian Intifada of 1987, then the Oslo Accords of 1993 and their impact on shaping the political and social scene in the Strip, then the second Palestinian Intifada; and in the following decades, life in the Strip was significantly affected by Israeli restrictions and the siege imposed on it starting in 2007, which led to a worsening of economic, social, and humanitarian conditions — this in turn led to the attack of October 7, 2023, which resulted in a wide-scale Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, leading to the fall of more than 37,000 martyrs, 89,000 wounded, and extensive destruction of infrastructure.
