Policy Paper: On the Unity of the Palestinian Arenas, and the Qualitative Weight of Gaza Between the Political Variable and the Historical Transformation

The geography of the Gaza Strip, with its demographic makeup and the limited scope of its geography and political borders since the Nakba of 1948, has determined its role as a political geography positioned either as the foremost player among the first ranks, or as the main locomotive of the national project. Gaza was the cradle in which political forces were born, and the first building blocks of the structure of the conflict were formed on Gaza's soil.

This particularity and ingenuity together produced a political equation that may have risen to the level of a law: this equation is summed up in that whoever holds Gaza governs and controls the management of national action and the Palestinian cause. This conclusion — this "truth" — does not constitute an absolute constant so much as it is a moving given, subject to changes in quality and shifts in quantity.
